Once children are in school, story times may not be what you are looking for to entertain the kids. While the Boulder libraries have many programs to help children with their reading, they have some other fun activities available as well.
Various game nights are offered at the Boulder Main library and Meadows branch. Main’s teen space hosts the Teen Game Night from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. every Tuesday. The second Tuesday of the month was expanded to include World of Warcraft (WOW) in the learning lab of the Main library.
For the younger children, ages 5 to 18, check out the board game “Go” at the Main library on Sunday afternoons from 2 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Go is a 4,000-year-old game from China. Taking only minutes to learn, “Go” teaches basic sportsmanship of concentration and respect for one’s opponent.
Bring the whole family for Family Game Night on Fridays at the Meadows library from 4 p.m. to 5:45 p.m. Games include various board games and Wii. While the majority of participants are families with elementary school-aged children, residents from the nearby nursing homes are known to come partake in the games.
